Has anyone had a chance to read this one? There have been some interesting reviews - broadly, it seems to be going over better with people who know nothing about Louise Brooks than those who do. I can never understand why authors cram in real-life people, rather than just including a future film star named Laureen Brooklings or something, but perhaps the fact that Louise is discussed in each and every review (and that we're discussing it here in the first place) has already answered my question.

Amazon is offering it for $2.99 on their Kindle Daily Deal today, so I've bought it and will give it a chance. Doesn't seem like my kind of novel though.

I'm about 30% through it and after a slightly clumsy beginning I'm enjoying this novel. So far Brooks is a secondary character, though an interesting one. So far the novel is mostly about her chaperone Cora, from whose viewpoint we see what is going on. They're superficially an ill matched pair but I suspect there's going to be a life changing experience for both of them. I'm not expecting anything surprising (Brooks's life is on record after all) but the writing is good with some nice descriptive touches.
