Think you've see it all?
Well check out the cast of characters in our latest DVD releases!
We have journalism great Walter Cronkite, a pair of rootin’, tootin’ cowboys, rhinos and a down-at-the-heels toe dancer.

And all these films are on DVD for the first time ever!

Martin and Osa Johnson’s
SIMBA: THE KING OF BEASTS

Martin & Osa Johnson were a famous, glamourous globetrotting couple
— who also happened to make exciting films of their adventures.
During the 1920s, they journeyed around the world and brought back
fantastic images. Now important records of lost cultures, these films
still astonish audiences today!

Clifford S. Elfelt’s
BIG STAKES
(LATINO VISIONS VOL. 1)

BIG STAKES is the kookiest and strangest silent film you'll ever see
— and a vitally important addition to Latin American studies. What
else can you call a film that involves a lovely señorita, a
hell-bent buckaroo, a dangerous Mexican captain, a Gila monster,
Night Riders … and a plot where everybody’s fate is decided on by
two Mexican jumping beans!

Marcel Ophuls’
THE TROUBLES WE'VE SEEN

One of Milestone's favorite directors, Marcel Ophuls (The Sorrow and
the Pity), traveled with correspondents covering the war in Bosnia to
create this definitive documentary on the role of journalists during
wartime. THE TROUBLES WE’VE SEEN is brave, searing and
unforgettable!

Eleanor Antin’s
FROM THE ARCHIVES OF MODERN ART

World-famous artist Eleanor Antin incarnates her alter-ego Eleanor
Antinova, the once celebrated black ballerina of Diaghlev’s Ballet
Russes. On her return to her native America (or so the story goes)
Antinova was forced to eke out a living during the Depression by
acting in low budget movies. These six "recently discovered" lost
films of comedy, farce, and alas, a slightly “blue” movie are
incorrigibly funny and wonderful!

What, no Chase or Pickford sets?

BIG STAKES sounds pretty wild. I might just have to get that. Thanks for the update, Dennis!

BIG STAKES started out as a work for hire from TCM when they did their Latino series. I wasn't very enthused by its description but once I saw the film (especially with Donald Sosin's great score), I really fell in love with this screwball Western.
