Win The Devil's Needle/The Saphead from Kino!

Win The Devil's Needle and The Saphead (DVD or Blu-Ray) Direct From Kino!

Image Image

Kino is exclusively offering NitrateVille readers a chance to win copies (Blu-ray or DVD) of two of their newest and coolest releases— The Devil's Needle, containing three tales of vice and redemption from the silent teens with stars like Norma Talmadge and Viola Dana, and music by, among others, our friends and NitrateVillain Rodney Sauer and Ben Model; and The Saphead, Buster Keaton's charming first feature, with two different versions of the film (one of them accompanied by, again, Ben Model).

How do you become the beneficiary of their largesse? Do you have to marry by six p.m.? Surrender your virtue to lecherous Tully Marshall? Nope, just go here and submit your info. Entries must be submitted by Monday, July 9; USA residents only.

There is also a talkie drawing; see Talkie News for info on that. (You can enter both, just only once each.)

As with the other contest--win a bunch of Selznick titles--this is also open to residents of Canada.

Too late for me, as I already pre-ordered both from ImportCDs.com and THE DEVIL'S NEEDLE arrived today (well, Wednesday) with THE SAPHEAD scheduled to arrive by Friday or Saturday (even though both aren't officially released until July 10th!

Just watched the entire DEVIL'S NEEDLE disc and it's a real treat for anyone into social issue films, films of the 1910s, rare obscurities, or any combination of the above. Picture quality is generally quite good, considering, allowing for occasional severe nitrate decomposition on THE DEVIL'S NEEDLE (not to mention the oddity of Tully Marshall as the romantic lead!!) and the rainstorm of print scratches on INSIDE OF THE WHITE SLAVE TRAFFIC (which is otherwise incredibly sharp although abridged to two of the four original reels), and a slightly soft-focus print for large chunks of THE CHILDREN OF EVE (which is the best film of the three). I hope to have a full review up on the Old Movies in HD thread by this weekend sometime.

I've probably entered a few thousand of these types of giveaways on various sites and have yet to win anything. I already have The Saphead so If do happen to win I'll do another giveaway for it here.

So they have a conclusion, but won't release it?
Can't release the names until all the relatives are notified(like a police drama)?

Just for that it's going to stay an extra month, and come down in June 2014.
