New video showing a nitrate film fire

PostSun Jul 01, 2012 6:00 pm

I humbly invite you to view my first short form video. It is up on YouTube as of tonight and would like to think it has something about it that will appeal to everyone.

I am a film collector who's prints date as far back at 1897. One film I had was an early talkie from 1926. Sadly, it was badly decomposed so I set it ablaze for you, the viewing public.

About 80% of the films made before 1930 are considered lost and my video illustrates partially why that is.

All positive and negative comments are welcome.

Enjoy.

More videos featuring my lost silent era and early sound film fragments collection are to follow.

Very well done. I love the ominous music and all the tidbits of good info. Couldn't help but feel sorry for the main character who dies in the last act. :D

Thank you for making an informative and entertaining exhibition for us. I was not expecting to like it much, but I'm glad that you chose to show it as you did.

Interesthing...

But next time you can remamber to try a CO2 extinguisher, and lso try to drop the film segment on a water tank, just to show that nitrate fire can't be put out.
Keep thinking...
