The photo of Laurel and Hardy is dated 1925 but this can't be as they weren't a working team until 1927/28. Looks more like a late 29' early 30's photo.
My favorite is #17: The lion being recorded and photographed in 1928 for MGM. I've seen all the other photos, but never a candid shot of creating the famous lion introduction.

Is this actually a candid shot or a staged photo? It seems to me like it be the latter. The compostion is carefully framed to show they're inside a cage. Also, the camera is so close to the microphone that it would certainly pick up the noise of the camera mechanism. Would MGM risk two valuable personnel (OK the cameraman is probably expendable but a good sound engineer would be worth his weigth in gold during this era)? The camerman looks like he's wishing he was in one of those sound isolation booths.
