Anyone know who did the score(s) for the upcoming KINO Blu-ray release?

Oh, that would be Mont Alto. It rather surprised us to be asked, because the caricatures, broad humor, serious topic, and avant garde montage sequences in this film are right up the alley of more contemporary music groups. But we never turn down interesting work, so we dug through our collection for some edgy but still historic music, with an emphasis on Russian composers. I'm quite happy with the way it came out, and it contains some cues I've always wanted to record.

Those of you who saw our live performances of L'Argent may recognize the main theme, Henry Hadley's "Herod Overture," which we reused as a recurring theme in our Strike score. It fit, and it seems unlikely we'll ever record our score to L'Argent.

I'll post some excerpts at some point when I get a chance.

I'm glad it will be Mont Alto and not just generic synthesizer music or pieced together public domain scores like Kino has done in the past. *glares at his Fantomas serial set*

I haven't been able to finish the Fantomas set. After all the expectations the films just don't live up to the plotlines.

Sheesh, so far as I know that's the ONLY case of that from Kino. Maybe there's something else but the overwhelming majority of their releases have synchronized, period appropriate and interesting scores.

Which is why I love KINO. I've certainly given them a lot of money in the past but I am still a teeny bit bitter about that set. The Gaumont sets had pretty repetitive music as well so it may be a Gaumont thing.
