1912, October the 3rd.
From the Manger to the Cross is released for the first time in public. The film, directed by Sidney Olcott, tells the story of the life and the death of Jesus Christ. It’s one of the first feature film, produced by an American company : Kalem. It costs a lot of money. Olcott shots on locations in Egypt and Palestine.
The subject is sensitive. One call to boycott the film. Kalem chooses to screen it to the clergy in London. A good idea. It is approved by the high authorities of the Churches. They considered the film very respectful.
