Fayetteville AR: THE SILENT ENEMY (1929)

PostTue Nov 01, 2011 8:19 pm

Tomorrow, Wednesday November 2, there will be a free screening of the very impressive film THE SILENT ENEMY (1929) at the University of Arkansas, accompanied by the Mont Alto Motion Picture Orchestra.

Part documentary, part adventure film, and part melodrama; The Silent Enemy follows a band of Ojibway, recreating their pre-Columbian lifestyle, during a harsh winter in present-day Canada. The parts are played by an Ojibway tribe, joined by a small cadre of Native American actors (Chief Yellow Robe, Buffalo-Child Long Lance, and Molly Spotted Elk) in the major roles. Mont Alto's score is compiled of music by a variety of Western composers who were inspired by Indian melodies and New-World landscapes.
