Peter Pan
directed by Herbert Brenon

We are proud to present an archival print of the first film adaptation of J.M. Barrie's tale of the boy who refused to grow up, his gang of Lost Boys, the dastardly Captain Hook, and their adventures with the Darling children in magical Never Never Land. Betty Bronson was selected by Barrie himself to play Peter Pan, beating out such silent screen luminaries as Mary Pickford, Gloria Swanson, and Lillian Gish, and it’s easy to see why: her balletic, stylized performance perfectly captures the feel of a child living out eternal play-time. Utilizing in-camera special effects that still impress (not a wire in sight!), Peter Pan is an exhilarating trip to the land of pirates, fairies, and eternal youth, not to mention a crocodile with a clock in its stomach. Peter Pan is presented with an original piano score performed by Bob Milne, internationally renowned ragtime pianist and Library of Congress-decreed “national treasure”.
