WHEN THE EARTH TREMBLED (1913, Lubin, 35mm
print from the collection of the Library of Congress,
preserved by the San Francisco Silent Film Festival)
Ethel Clayton, former Essanay Chicago studio star,
plays a woman struggling to survive with her two children,
caught in the 1906 San Francisco earthquake.
The film incorporates footage shot in 1906 by Lubin
cameraman Jack Frawley.
