Jersey City, NJ: 11/12/2011 - Batman (1966)

PostMon Nov 07, 2011 7:54 am

This coming Saturday, November 12th, The Landmark Loews Jersey is hosting a 35mm screening the 1966 Batman feature staring Adam West and Burt Ward. We are getting the Fox vault print, so it should look good. Catwoman Lee Meriwether will be there in person to discuss the film.

This is not a Friends Of The Loews show, but rather a rental as part of a comic book convention taking place in Teaneck NJ earlier in the day. Their website link is below.

Ooh, Bronson Canyon and Cave as the location for the Bat Cave. I wonder where else they shot around LA?

The Batmobile from the 60s Batman is at the Volo Car Museum near Chicago, and once when I was there they had a clip of George Barris, who built it, telling a story about how, when they were shooting library footage of it driving around, it got pulled over and the officer said "Do you know your car doesn't have windshield wipers?" And it was all the driver could do to not shout, "Yeah, and it's got flames going out the back and it shoots boomerangs, too, genius!"

What is the point of the scene in batman begins where they break the defective masks? Usually in movies when they take a scene to point out a minor detail, it becomes important late in the movie. In batman begins they show Alfred breaking batman's mask to show that they are fragile due to a problem with the graphite, but this never seems to come up again. Any idea what the scene is for?
