Song for Laila (1929), plus Jackie Coogan and Dad (1928)

PostMon Oct 01, 2012 5:59 pm

For those who have seen the Norwegian silent Laila (1929), here is one of two songs written for the film:

Lailas kjærlighetssang (Laila's Love Song) by Ellgen/Bjønner/Hauger/Schøyen)

The other tune would have been on the B-side: Vuggesang for Laila (Lullaby for Laila) by Reidar Thommesen, who was known as the nation's "Waltz King".

BONUS TRACK - Master Jackie Coogan "Presenting His Dad" (recorded 05.12.28)
Just discovered this delightful oddity - probably old news to many here, but anyway:

No writer credited on the label, I suppose Jackie's old man wrote it, possibly with some assistance. The sketch itself is pretty good, and what splendid delivery from both father and son, but the latter in particular. He sounds, in fact, exactly how "The Kid" should sound!
