FILM MUSIC- Neglected, Unknown, Or Star-Written

PostFri Jul 06, 2012 9:28 am

SADDLE THE WIND (1958): IT WAS A CINEMASCOPE WESTERN WRITTEN BY ROD SERLING, FILMED IN COLORADO, FEATURING JOHN CASSAVETES AND CHARLES MCGRAW--- WHAT COULD GO WRONG? NEARLY EVERYTHING BUT THE LIVINGSTON-EVANS TITLE SONG, PERFORMED TWICE BY JULIE LONDON
HERE IS A LINK TO A LATER RENDITION OF THE SONG

Re: TITLE SONGS- UNDER APPRECIATED

One of my favorites is from 1957's NIGHT PASSAGE - "Follow the River" by Dimitri Tiomkin and Ned Washington. Here is a suite of the main and end titles.

Honolulu(1939)-Gracie Allen+Eleanor Powell

PostThu Nov 22, 2012 1:28 pm

The last Burns and Allen film-though not exactly a teaming-
is distinguished by Grace Allen and Eleanor Powell's
charming introduction of the Harry Warren-Gus Kahn title tune.

Ferrante & Teicher:Duo With 4 Top 10 Film Themes

PostFri Jun 14, 2013 6:39 pm

"Ferrante and Teicher ceased performing in 1989 and retired to Longboat Key and Siesta Key, respectively, both
close to each other on the west coast of Florida. They continued to play together occasionally at a local piano store."
"Louis Teicher died of a heart attack in August 2008, three weeks before his 84th birthday.
Arthur Ferrante died of natural causes on September 19, 2009 at the age of 88
(he had once said he wanted to live one year for each piano key)."

If you think the idea of performers having "theme song hits" -
"The Apartment" (#10), "Exodus" (#2), "Tonight" (#8), and "Midnight Cowboy"(#10) -
from films in which they did not participate seems a bit antiquated, you'd be right.
As their professional career progressed - perhaps in an effort to confuse snipers-
they became identical twins
