Some fine radio transcriptions on CD

PostThu Jan 12, 2012 9:44 am

Just wanted to mention two really good CD issues from the Take Two label: "Echoes From The Cocoanut Grove with Gus Arnheim and His Orchestra" (Take Two #410) and a companion disc, "Echoes From The Cocoanut Grove with Phil Harris and His Orchestra" (Take Two #416). Lots of fine, smooth music here, and the transfer to CD is well done, and from excellent quality source material.

There's one more Take Two CD, "Echoes From The Cocoanut Grove with Jimmy Grier and His Orchestra" (Take Two #421), but I haven't bought/heard that one yet, so I can't personally recommend it. But if it's anything like the first two, it should also be good.

All three CD's are available from Worlds Records at www.worldsrecords.com. SETH
