Wether you like it or not, Film is going away, in both Professional applications and amatuer applications. Its just the way it is, and you cant fight it. I have to say, I have seen some raw footage shot with the RED camera and it was incredible.

It will never look just like film, but tastes change also. Cds dont sound anything like Records, but they completely changed how people listened to their music.

It's already happened in a lot of places. In the city where I live all the first-run theaters are owned by one of the major national chains which last Spring quietly converted all of them to digital just in time for the summer film season. Not long after, a regional circuit that has all the first-run houses in surrounding smaller communities and the area's last remaining second-run theater did the same. There is only one theater, a small independently owned art theater, still running film and it's just a matter of time before it converts or closes.
