I have it pre-ordered for my Kindle. Much lighter that way.

As a huge admirer of Tracy's work I think I will be buying this too - he's a subject who will probably easily fill that number of pages. I don't know much about the author but I assume this won't be another hatchet job like the one which came out a few years ago about Katharine Hepburn. I hope so anyway.

I have known Jim Curtis since he was working on his biography of James Whale maybe close to 20 years ago. He definitely does not do gossip bios. Take a look as his W.C. Fields from a couple of years ago for an example.
I expect this to be well researched, and very readable.

Finally got this for Christmas and am part way through it. Tracy was certainly an interesting character and it seems worlds away from any of his screen personas. I've had great pleasure in binning the Davidson bio of several years ago in favour of this one. I was also pleased to see a discussion of recent Hepburn biogs re the Tracy-Hepburn romance, although I suspect the definitive Kate book is quite a long way off.

You think so.
I have to say I found him to be a most boring man. It was a difficult book to get through. I love his films but ....geez...he did nothing of interest in everyday life at all worth reading about. Considering this fact, the book was way too long.
Sorry, but....that was my takeaway from that biog.

Is it about his personal life or about his films too?

Both, Louie.

Michael - perhaps it helps that I have always found the contrast between his life and screen image fascinating. Don't know. Each to their own!
