Tweet Lloyd Hamilton Wedding Belles 1931?

I thought I had acquired a Lloyd Hamilton Educational short with Gertrude Astor, Arthur Housman, & Eddie Gribbon.
The print was missing head/end credits plus set up and edited to 15 minutes (600 feet approx).
Further research revealed that it was an Independent release entitled WEDDING BELLES.
Has anyone (other than Louie or Rich) ever screen this title?

A print of Wedding Belles is supposed to be available at the Museum of Modern Art, but I scheduled a screening of the film and the projectionist ran a 1920 Snub Pollard comedy called Cracked Wedding Bells. I believe that Rob Farr and Steve Massa have seen the film.

I've never seen it, but would like to someday. Here's what I know, and the others can chime in with corrections/additions. Eileen Bowser wrote a detailed plot description in the 1980s of the Wedding Belles print owned by MoMA and sent it around (pre-email days) asking for any additional information. In the 1990s when Cole Johnson was screening comedies at MoMA, he asked that the print be pulled on several occasions. As with Anthony's experience, each time it was either a different title or Cole was told it couldn't be found, leading us to suspect it was either lost or decomposed. But it's nice to know a 16mm print survives. Hope we all get to see it someday!

I haven't seen it either, and would also like to see it some day. I've had a similar experience with two other films at the archives over the last 20 years. HELLO HOLLYWOOD ('25) stars Lige Conley and SPEED ('27) is a Rayart comedy - but over the years various other shorts with the same titles turn up, but never the ones I really asked for.

Hopefully WEDDING BELLES will get around.

It is part of a program of rarely seen non-L&H films that features their supporting players (Mae Bush; Vivian Oakland; Walter Long; Anita Garvin; James Finlayson; Charley Hall; Arthur Housman; Edgar Kennedy).

As one of those "eagle-eyes" (and as Chico Marx would say, "Yeah and the rest of his face don't look so good either!"), we further concluded that it may actually be narrowed down to late 1934, making it one of the last films Hamilton made (as we know, he passed away on Jan. 19, 1935).

Another clue that made it more likely the short was made in 1934 rather than the formerly given date of 1931 was some of the fashions worn by some ladies in the short.

The newspaper used in WEDDING BELLES is the L.A. Evening Herald dated May 28, 1934.
