Ray Bradbury, 1920-2012

What rotten news.

The last time I saw Bradbury speak was at the DeMille Barn, several years ago. He had become very deaf and at first gave the impression of being somewhat vague—until I asked him if he thought Dandelion Wine would ever be filmed. He heard that question with no problems and suddenly became the Ray Bradbury I remembered from years ago, voluble, colorful, engaging, a walking pageant of enthusiasm. Rest in peace, Mr. Bradbury.

A wonderful writer of stories. Two immediately spring to mind. The lighthouse brought crashing down in a storm by the creature from the deep believing its foghorn was a mate calling to it from across the sea. And the achingly sad but beautiful story of the misshapen dwarf who every year visited the circus and stood in front of the mirrors, so that once a year a handsome and well proportioned man stared back at him. Ray Bradbury RIP

It's always frustrating to see many talents from past years going... ... and so many craps of our modern times rising...

Keep thinking...

There are quite a few very good, very imaginative writers working today. Come to think of it, one of them was Bradbury, he continued to write until very recently.

Very sad news. Someone told me they are in fact making a movie of Dandelion Wine - anyone got any information on it?

According to the news it's still in the works:

It seems there was a Russian version of Dandelion Wine filmed in 1997, according to the imdb. I'd be interested in seeing that.
