Bah. For once I was right, and I passed on posting it yesterday just because I wasn't 100% sure.

I'm not even certain I know the two on the left! William Cody, possibly, and ???

Oh, that the one that was listed on EBay last week as Norma Talmadge. Signature should have been a clue.

Thanks... The photo is listed even now... the dealer (see "quote" at bottom) suggests that Talmadge signed (in character) as "Nancy Lee," but I could not quite make out the first line of the inscription, nor the signature (my eyeballs have reached the point now where they can be rolled farther than they can see). I did not think Norma’s writing matched with that in the mystery photo (see the Norma letter sample image below for comparison purposes-note, especially the uppercase "N"). And, though I knew the woman in the photo looked like Norma, after staring at it too long, she started to resemble Mary Astor, even though it could not be ! It was at this point, I injected very powerful horse sedatives directly into my neck, resolving , should I awaken, to seek professional help on Nitrateville...

Good condition, remnants of black photo corners from album. Signed Nancy Lee. We see Miss Talmadge appeared as Nancy Lee in The Way of a Woman. 5 1/8" x 4 1/4", BW matte finsh"

Well, it was a clever thought they had, trying to match it up with the character name, but it doesn't look much like Norma. What's more interesting is that letter. I assume this is referencing Jimmy Starr, who is in the "writers of nonfiction books" thread. Starr was Joe Schenck's office boy circa 1923, and writes a bit about it in his book.

This is incorrect. The fellow is Fred Kley. A general factotum for Cecil B. DeMille and the Lasky company--also a sometime bit player in the 1910s

I've seen 24 0f Austin's 25 filmed performances-
23 with Chaplin- so my not being able to identify him
is none too encouraging....
