Martie,

:? The Lillian Gish looks very much like my version, with that exception of the deeper blonde hair. Theda Barra looks great, Never saw that photo before.

Here is some fresh stuff.

I've never seen that Rough House Rosie still. Totally new to me. How does it look in monochrome?

Martie,

:) I'm trying to retain the same colors from the previous still at the Hotdog and Hamburgers Stand. It isn't easy though, and I never looked at the earlier still once this time. I have many with Clara in that same outfit.

Here's some Clara's you may not have.

Martie,

Not really. I think I have a couple more silhouette pics though. Haven't found them. Better get to bed if you have school in the morning. Glad that you could use these photos.

Lillian not Clara?

I'm thinking that may not actually be Clara!
The still code number (787) (assuming it's Paramount, of which I'm sure) applies to the 1930 feature HONEY in which Clara Bow does not appear. But Lillian Roth IS in that one, and I'm thinking that looks more like Lillian than Clara.

Gagman,
What's the source that says this is Clara Bow?

Considering the silhouette one is in profile, here's one of Clara for comparison. Maybe somebody can find a Lillian Roth in profile to compare that too.

The mystery girl's chin sticks out a wee bit more than Clara's, it seems. I have seen Clara's hair in that sort of shape, though.

Martie,
Thanks for your input and the additional pictures.
Still waiting to hear what gagman thinks about it.
As for me, being a major huge long-time passionate devoted Lillian Roth fan, I'm still going with the idea that the lady is Lillian.

That this is still an open question is surprising, to me it's obviously Lillian Roth. Also, I've seen stills for many films from Paramount, and I haven't as yet seen one with an actor not in the cast which didn't also have a cast member in it. If that was Clara, I wouldn't think it'd be in the stills for the film Honey.

It actually never was in question to me. As I mentioned I'm a big fan of Lillian Roth and saw right away that the photo was she. I was just kind of waiting to see what gagman had to say about it - why he thought it could be Clara Bow.

Hey, now, what are you trying to imply? Honestly, at first, it being labeled as Clara pretty much led me to believe that it was, though since it was in silhouette and I couldn't see her face I was a wee bit skeptical, so I asked for any story behind it. Then you brought up the question of it actually being Lillian Roth and it began to "look" less like Clara. I should've looked up the still code or asked around for it right from the beginning.

I'm trying to get away from the formal studio portraits. That said, here's a nice studio portrait:

Here's what I mean - an unusually pensive Noah Berry and you can almost feel the warmth of the sunshine:

I may have posted this some time ago, a candid from a testimonial dinner for H.G. Wells in December 1935:

:o I thought I posted on this, apparently nopt. I never thought it was Clara Bow either. It was listed as Clara on Golden Age Of Hollywood. Undoubtedly, before it was posted there, another site had it listed as her. I told the girl on GAOH that it wasn't her right away shortly after finding the photo. And I said it was Lillian Roth. Sorry I was gone for several days and have not posted much here on any of the boards.

Here is a new to me portrait of John Gilbert.

Martie,

:) It is from the recently restored HER WILD OAT (1927), which I still have not seen. Some of the members here have though. Baby Peggy on TCM in December, but no Colleen Moore. It would be nice if we could get a documentary on Colleen sometime followed by a few of her films. I wonder why TCM has never picked up the Pola Negri Documentary? That was produced 6 years ago.

I've been busy for these past few weeks and haven't had much time to do many color transfers. Here a few new ones that I've been able to complete.

First, a shot of Clive Brook and Evelyn Brent from Underworld:
Image

Second, a portrait of Harold Lloyd from The Cat's Paw:

Third, a few more color transfers from my Professor Beware series. I still have a few more that I've been working on that I hope to finish eventually.

Very impressive work, LC. Phylis Welch is so pretty, too bad she made only one film.

Here are two more candids:

Bob,

:o Good work, but forgive me if I'm inclined to tinker with the green foliage in the background of the Fields photo.

Here is some new stuff. It's a little grainy. Can't do much about that.

Thanks for your kind words!

Here's a Clara Bow photo I've had for a little while (got it off of ebay from a seller who didn't do a very good job of describing it. Probably the reason why I was able to get it for three dollars). I'm not sure what's going on with that lighter portion on the left side. Maybe the lighting? Anyway, do you think I made Clara too pale? Sometimes I look at it and think that she looks just fine. Other times I look at it and think that Clara just finished having a date with Bela Lugosi.

Thanks for your approval, Bob. Arlissian is a title I shall bear with honor. It almost sounds as if I've been initiated into a secret organization.

Here's a vintage color transfer from "Little Old New York." It plays on the Fox Movie Network occasionally, and as I recall it's not a bad film. One of those rare Alice Faye movies where she doesn't sing!
