Here's a surviving poster advertisement for HEARTS ADRIFT(1914) , one of Mary's lost Famous Players films. On this expanded link at Wiki Commons enough visual detail is evident. Since the film is lost we don't know if Pickford went all out for realism and breastfed a baby on screen. Perhaps some surviving review of the film can validate scene. Or is the child just sleeping in Pickford's arms? Only she and Harold Lockwood are credited . The child is unknown for sure.
This is a great example of trade magazine advertisements of that era. For some of Mary's lost films, the surviving ads, posters, and stills are all we have to get a flavor of the production. Fortunately, more of Mary's work has survived for future generations to study and enjoy.
here moviegoers of the era view a poster of Pickford in the film. This was a nice color poster of the film and copies still survive today as on GoogleImages. (courtesy of Harold Lockwood/ tumblr) http://media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m503k8yn4s1r9logs.jpg
