JFK, I would crawl to London over broken glass for the privilege of paying $40 for A TCM US subscription. Take a look at the TCM UK website, then drop to your knees and give thanks that you have TCM US. Ask any classic film fan in Europe and they will tell you the same thing; that you don't know when you're lucky.
I could use some digital restoration myself...

Apparently, there isn't much about TCM that you do like.
So just cancel your subscription.
Problem solved.

Considering how TCM stacks up against other networks (frankly, I wouldn't even bother with cable at all if it wasn't for TCM), the quality of programming far outweighs the (in my mind) inconveniences. It's a helluva lot cheaper than buying Warner Archives releases, that's for sure.

Then again, we only started getting TCM here in Halifax over a year ago. I've got a lot of catching up to do.

I agree. TCM is a true gift and nothing worth whining about.

And what's with the weird sentence format? Looked like iambic pentameter or movie titles with every word capitalized. Very bizarre.

Silent Sunday Nights too frequently pre-empted, or even worse, predictable.

I had TCM (Asia) - which broadcasts into Australia on PAY-TV through a satellite - for 3 years or so. During this time I think I viewed their complete repertoire of films. I cancelled the subscription accordingly and notice that the same films are still being played over and over. Of course they decided early in the piece that they should compete with other 'movie' channels and update their films - so a number of films from the 1970's and 1980's crept in which could hardly be termed "classics". A silent film may hit the list once a year.

I suppose this is what you get when you have to clear rights to broadcast into about a dozen countries also, not having someone on staff who knows anything about films.
Silents Please!

i think people in America who moan about TCM should take a look at the programming of TCM in other counties and then stop moaning!

You are absolutely right! Nothing to complain about. Some people could be given a bar of gold,, then complain about the weight!!

Well, if you put it that way, JFK is most likely complaining about the purity of the gold bar, rather than the weight. I do agree with him a little that TCM could use a little improvement, but we folks in the U.S. do seem pretty well off compared to others in terms of TCM programming!

Well, I'd like to see all the complainers program in the range of 4000 pictures per year. It is not an easy task.
