Late 40's Cooper/Coogan flicks

PostThu Jun 28, 2012 10:27 pm

Has anyone ever seen "Kilroy Was Here" (1947) or "French Leave" (1948), both with Jackie Cooper and Jackie Coogan? I can't find them anywhere. They were both produced by Monogram, so I thought that meant they'd be fair game for Alpha Video or YouTube or something like that. I've never seen them on the collector's lists, either. The IMDB says that Kilroy was released on VHS and DVD in 2005 by "Hollywood's Best", but I can't find any sign of those. Anyone know?

Got some lobby cards and stills from them, but never seen the films. But I'd like to.

Monogram pictures could currently be in either MGM/UA or WB libraries. Allied Artists (high-class Monogram) the same.
I'd think they're pretty low priority.

I figured they wouldn't be very high on anyone's priority list, I'm just surprised they've never been put out on a $2.99 DVD.

I checked these titles in my old B.I.B. books (TV distribution source books). In 1976, both titles were distributed by Allied Artists TV; in 1982, the rights went to Lorimar. Not sure about now; I suspect these might have ended up with Warners. They were never in the MGM/UA distribution circle.
