Well, they may have oversold, but I can now confirm that the offer was legit. My copy arrived in the mail today; they sent it priority mail.

Hmmm...my status still says "submitted", not sold out, but not shipped either.

Edit: Just got an email saying it was shipped a few minutes ago! Hope there's no glue on the discs!!!

My L&H set arrived yesterday by Priority Mail. I haven't played any discs yet but I carefully examined all ten discs and they look fine, no glue, scratches, etc.

Yeah, mine did today. I looked at the discs, they look fine. I actually like the "book" packaging.

Well, I still don't have my Laurel and Hardy Set from J&R. They haven;t even shipped it yet. I assume they sold out of it and are having trouble getting a new shipment in. Poor management.

I can just see the new shipment, packed in a box that looks like an upright piano, and two postal guys dragging it up the J&R back steps...

This is well worth it if you like John Ford, Civil War films, and/or John Wayne. I reviewed this Blu-ray on page 4 of the "Old Movies in HD" thread. And not quite as good but still fun and on sale right now for $11.99 at Amazon is THE COMANCHEROS, which I reviewed later in the same thread. There are quite a few good deals on Blu-rays of classic films right now if you look around, including some repackaged into double and triple features.

This was just a one-day promotion, so unfortunately it's now expired. But a number of classics that came out on Blu-ray for $20-$30 within the past four years are now regularly selling in the $8-$15 range if you look around.

Amazon is once again selling a selection of 20th Century Fox classics in Digibook Blu-ray editions for only $9.99 each. (Too bad I already have them all and paid $20-$30 for most of them back when they first came out!) Titles include

All About Eve
An Affair to Remember
Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid
The Commancheros
The Hustler
Patton
Rocky
The Terminator
Tora! Tora! Tora!
The Usual Suspects

Not online, but yesterday I picked up the All Quiet on the Western Front (1930) BluRay at Sam's for $25. It includes the silent version on DVD, plus it had a digital version. You enter the code in on iTunes and I was able to download the film to my iPhone.

At the moment Amazon seems to be having a nice sale on several of the classic Universal Blu-ray digibooks released for the studio centennial, originally selling for $20-30 but now only $10-12, and some non-digibooks now marked down to only $8.99.

Titles include ALL QUIET ON THE WESTERN FRONT, HARVEY, PILLOW TALK, BUCK PRIVATES, SPARTACUS, AIRPORT, AMERICAN GRAFFITI, ANIMAL HOUSE, and others.

Do your research first! This set has awesome films but some people had problems with the discs. I didn't with mine but others have....

I'm not sure if doing research will help. I ordered this set a while back from one of these outlet sellers of discontinued merchandise on ebay. Mine had problems with EVERY disc! They would start fine but always crash at some point int he mtiddel of the movie. It was frustrating because the resored LODGER looked very good!

I knew about this potential problme when I bought it, but had figured I would simply get it replaced by the manufacturer if I was unlucky. But I eventually gave up trying to do this, after getting the right contact number or email address proved much harder than I'd guessed.

DeepDiscount has their semi-annual sale which gives 25% off their already discounted prices. Perusing the ones that are marked "25 More" it seems like there weren't many titles that would be of interest to this group. If someone digs a little deeper and finds some heavily discounted gems perhaps they can list them on this thread.

The Warner Archive Collection is being discounted. It is tedious to search for anything on their website, they don't gather all of the sales items together.
