Difficult Posting Reply

PostFri Jun 01, 2012 11:56 am

This morning it was especially hard logging in to post a simple reply, which required answering a set of moronic questions. I,m relatively new to this site but I know at least one long term reader, a film teacher, who doesn,t bother to post replies because it means jumping through all those unnecessary hoops.

You're already registered and have posted. Did you have to answer questions now, or just when you first joined?

The questions are an anti-spam measure, but they should be only at initial registration. If that's not the case it's news to me.

Has anyone else ever had this situation? This is not at all what it's supposed to do.

I had a similar situation about a month ago, but I closed out my web browser and retried, all was back to normal.

I'm going to guess, then, that anyone having to fill out the question thing consistently has their browser set to NO COOKIES EVER DAMMIT and so the site has no way of remembering that you have ever been there before and have answered the questions already. For most people, the cookie takes care of that and posting is quite easy. (Frederica, you apparently just had a hiccup once where it couldn't find the cookie at first.)

Setting your computer to no cookies is sort of like having to get a new phone number from the phone company every time you want to make a call.
