East Lynne 1931

PostWed May 25, 2011 10:11 pm

I have a DVD copy in my collection of the 1931 East Lynne starring Ann Harding. The last 12 minutes are missing and apparently do not exist. Can someone shed any light on the possibility that the missing reel does exist.

:D Hey, I have this one, I also have EAST LYNN (1925) with Alma Rubbens, Lew Telligan, and Edmund Lowe. The print is just gorgeous too!

Is your 1931 version complete?

I'm not sure, but I don't think the final scenes exist in the 1931 version.

A complete print of 102 minutes exists at UCLA.

That makes two films that UCLA apparently has that I would like to see released. Does this ever happen or is it useless to hope?

UCLA is an archive - they don't have rights to release anything. If a rights holder wants to release a film, they can make an arrangement with UCLA (or other archives) to use their print material.
