Is there a video or can someone download, or explain, exactly the way a motion picture is restored and preserved...I'm going to the Selznick School, and want to know some preliminaries
Also take a look a the National Film Preservation Foundation's web site - www.filmpreservation.org.
It has an excellent section on the care and preservation of film.
Google MOVING IMAGES FOR THE FUTURE. This is a 20 minute film made by Film Technology Co. about 10 years ago, showing the steps taken by a lab specializing in preservation.

I'm sure I've missed a few, but these are the ones I own. You'll learn at lot at the Selznick school. I have great respect and affection for the people there.
There's also a great documentary on the restoration of M as an extra on the DVD release. I have the European release, but I think it is also an extra on the Criterion release here.
