An octet drawn from members of the San Francisco Chamber Orchestra premiered my score for NOW OR NEVER, Harold Lloyd, 1921, around the Bay area last weekend...there was a preview at the Jewish Museum, then the Herbst Theater had the first performance, which followed the Stravinsky Octet and a new work by Cindy Cox of Berkeley. Ben Simon led a brilliant performance and the audience was on its feet cheering at the conclusion. What a thrill to be there. Had to leave the following morning, but I heard that the Palo Alto, Berkeley and Vallejo performances were even better. I am hoping that chamber groups will pick this up for their programs in seasons to come. If you have any thoughts, please let me know. I will post clips when I have a recording.
