Tweet Restoring my own restoration

Doing tango restorations is hard. It is even harder when nobody around you mentions anything if there is still something wrong with a restoration, because sometimes an outsider can put some light in places where I saw no problems.

More than five years ago, I restored this instrumental acoustic recording titled "Aquel cuartito de la pensión" by Raúl de los Hoyos and Carlos Max Viale Paz, performed by Francisco Canaro in 1926:

I always preferred, however, the sung version by Azucena Maizani, with Canaro doing the accompaniment (also an acoustic recording), that I also restored at the time:

In my opinion, this is by far a much better version than the recording by Carlos Gardel.

But I was always frustrated with the poor results of the original instrumental version. For that reason, I decided to go back to the Canaro orchestra recording and corrected the running speed of it.
