Kansas Silent Film Fest

PostFri Feb 17, 2012 10:36 pm

Which folks from NitrateVille will be attending the Kansas Silent Film Festival next weekend? Other than Rodney, of course. I'll be a first-time visitor and would love to meet anyone else from NitrateVille while I'm there. Although I've lived in Raleigh, NC for the past 25 years, like Mike I'm a native Kansan and a proud Jayhawk.

Jim Reid and I will be there. Have you purchased a ticket to the Cinema dinner? We'd be glad to sit with you for dinner.

Feel free to come up and say hi to us too! Also -- I'm about to post these over on Silent Screenings -- if you're free, the Lawrence Arts Center is running Sunrise with Mont Alto the night before the festival (Feb 23), and we'll be opening with a hand-colored version of Le Royaume des Fées (1903), in honor of the lovely lobster-dropping scene in Scorsese's Hugo. See the original lobsters!

Rodney, I was planning on looking you up. I saw the 'Sunrise' screening on Mont Alto's website and I already had it on my agenda. Looking forward to it.

If any other Nitratevillains are attending, try to find Jim or myself and we'll save you a seat at the Nitrateville table at the Cinema Dinner. Rodney will be sitting with Mont Alto, and he's doing the after-dinner presentation on silent movie music.

I'll be there, and would like to be at the Nitrateville table if space is available. Should I buy the ticket now, or can I buy it Friday evening?

Also, are there any calendars left? I had a family illness that took my attention away, and if there are three more copies left I'll buy those too.

Lokke, supposedly the dinner is almost full. I'll do what I can to get you a ticket.

Rodney usually brings his extra calendars to the dealers' table.
