Portsmouth Film Society Presents Sir Arthur Conan Doyle Double Screening

The D Day museum will be holding a double-bill screening event between. The first ever silent film adaptation of ‘The Lost World' directed by Harry O. Hoyt will be shown 4:30pm.

Playing out the tale of an expedition team who uncover a plateau when prehistoric beasts still roam the land, it features pioneering stop-motion special effects considered ground-breaking at the time (classified U certificate).

This will be followed by the full colour adaptation directed by Irwin Allen in 1960 at 6:30pm. It depicts expedition members who stumble across a land of prehistoric creatures, and are left fighting for their lives and
struggling to find their way home (classified 12 certificate).

Both films are free admission, and are preceded by a short introductory talk by Patti Gaal-Holmes lecturer from the School of Creative Arts, Film and Media at the University of Portsmouth.
