US to EU Conversion of 16mm projectors

PostSat Apr 07, 2012 4:49 am

Is anyone familiar with the necessary steps to adapt an Elmo CL-16 from the US voltage system, so that it can operate in Germany? I was looking at the converter boxes for large appliances as a possibility. There's a rumor online that the Elmo *might* have an internal converter switch.

On the web there are suggestions and speculations about this topic but not one response that gives the definitive solution. Before I open up the projector's sealed housing and make a mess of things I figured I'd ask beforehand.

There is a belt that has to be switched on the inside of the projector. I'll have to see if I can find my projector instruction book.

Thanks Bruce, your confirmation of this is a big help in itself! I may venture taking off the back cover tonight and investigate further.

Bruce, thank you so much, this is exactly what I was hoping for. One can obtain 16mm projectors easily enough these days, but to locate the projector's manual is another matter! As a certain 16mm film seller often says on Ebay, "it's scarcer than hen's teeth!" Thank you again.
