Are you familiar with the FIAF database? It's also known as the 'Treasures from Film Archives' database, and it indicates where surviving films from the nitrate era (i.e. silents and early talkies) can be found.

There were no hits in FIAF for The Dangerous Train, but I did find a 1923 film called Dangerous Trails, directed by Alvin J. Neitz, starring Irene Rich, Noah Beery, and Tully Marshall. A print is held by Lobster Films, in Paris. Could that be the one you're looking for?
