Tweet Can you help me identify the actor in this photo?

I recently found a nice collection of mid-century press photos, mainly from Warner Bros. Studio, and this is the only one I can't figure out. I have asked around and no one has been able to help me. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks guys!

He looks like Yul Brunner with quite a bit more hair ... but it's not him.

I looks like Charlie McGraw to me.

Among the "visually similar images" Google turned up were Gerald Ford, Brian Donlevy, Lee Harvey Oswald and Pola Negri, but none of those seem particularly likely.

That was a thought someone else had when I showed it to them. Someone else said it looked like an older Charles Lindberg but I was told no on that also.

This one has me stumped.

Looks like a staff photo of one of the writers in the 20's.

I think it's more '30s than 20s.

Aside from the hair, he's a dead ringer for Ed Harris.

My initial thought was Steve McQueen, but I then realized it's earlier than that.

The reports that Google has been getting stupider seem to have basis. Missdupont seems to be onto something, the hair looks like a "Lucky Lindy" cut, and toning as used in that photo was more common in the '20s and '30s photos I've seen than any decade after. A guess from me is very late '20s to mid '30s.

I expect to be proven wrong, of course!

I can't really tell if that's a 4 or a 9. Most likely a 9. The letter T seems to follow.
I'm gonna take a shot in the dark and say that it says "Toni", or "Tony". Hell, it probably says "Toniy".
Of course, that's most likely the name of the photographer, not the subject himself.

Could it be Ernest Schoedsack? I checked some on-line sources but the hair color and some facial features were a little different.

No, the man's face and forehead are too short to be Schoedsack, who also dark hair, while this man's hair is light.

I looked up Ernest Schoedsack and yeah, that was close but not quite there. I think we're bound to get it eventually if we can get that close.

Well, now, I never actually said that it was Ned Sparks, per se, I was just noting the resemblance.
Unless, of course, Ned underwent plastic surgery, took a photo, decided he didn't like his new look, changed back his looks, but never realized the photo was out there. Of course, I'm not gonna go that far.
