Re: What is the last film you watched? (2018)

You make it sound like cinema was doomed to create film noir, and that by flashing back to earlier works of art, we can see the course of events that led us there. But who's the mastermind behind the situation and who's the dame that drove him to it?

Some online silent shorts I have seen recently include: Indian Review: Grand March Past (1902): There aren't many details offered for this very short Hepworth picture -- the copy I saw timed in at 20 seconds. The camerawork is ascribed to Cecil Hepworth, and it is certainly possible, even though he ...

I just finished watching Kino's new blu-ray of Nothing Sacred , which hit the market today. Kino touts it thus-- Brand New HD Master from a 2K Scan of the Restored Fine Grain Master! --and it is gorgeous. Fleeting shots, mostly dissolves, are a bit grainy, but the lines, scratches, density fluctuat...

I’ll be getting a Kickstarter copy, but I just wanted to praise Ida Lupino. As for my favorite of hers, it’s not her best, but I enjoy it greatly: The Trouble With Angels.

My Cousin, with Enrico Caruso, was issued on DVD in 2004 by RCA, but it's no longer in print. His co-star, Carolina White, was also an opera singer but the two never recorded together, as she was a Columbia artist.

The Hart picture -- which seems to be truly MIA, since it doesn't even have the usual 5+ IMDb ratings, even for a flick that noone has seen -- seems to be playing the nabes, given that several theaters are showing it. It was a high-water mark of sorts for Bill, with 10 features released that year. Bob
