15 year CD-R video archival test

I made a CD-R video recording 15 years ago with a Terapin CD video recorder. A test on 1.4.19 showed no visible deterioration of the content.

Looks like women are making good headway into film preservation

Association of Moving Image Archivists http://www.amiaconference.net/meet-the-navigators/ Only problem is women are very prejudicial when it comes to archival work and can make poor archivists when they inject their female thinking into preservation. Here is an example: Notice: Contains Nazi / white...

Vaporate film preservation

Anyone know any history on Vaporate film preservation method? It is an old system that was factory applied. I found a film with it and will post something at my blog about it later on, but I know nothing about it. They would emboss the leader with Vaporate and include a small paper testifying to the...

Heads and Tails

Was there any standard to using color leaders back in the day?

From what I can see, a yellow head leader and red tail leader were popular. Did they use method this for 35mm theater films?

Re: Sennett comedy with sound added?

Thanks Steve! Always appreciate some history. I hope to digitize it and put it online someday. But Warner Brothers had a Durbin film pulled within a few hours after I uploaded it, so will just have to see. In any case, will also put it on the Internet Archive. Things are usually safe there. I got an...

Sennett comedy with sound added?

I watched a 400 footer I think was called Kid Ryan. I don't know for sure if it was a Sennett production, but the name popped up on intertitles now and again. The film had later optical sound with comic narration added. Was this a common practice with silent movies? When were these sound added films...

Edge sprockets cut out @ parts.

I got an 400 foot, 16mm double perf nudie film, probably 1954 vintage. The reel is divided up into 5 parts. At each intertitle marking the parts, there is a 1 inch cutout of the sprockets on the left side of the film. The cuts are angled in at the edges and are all similar in size and design. Was th...
