Re: Getty Images is Changing Access to its Photos

Once in a while I blog on Getty. If they watermark them it is free advertising for Getty. Just don't remove the watermark. https://danieldteolijrarchivalcollection.wordpress.com/2017/07/23/how-much-does-it-cost-to-use-a-photo-from-getty-images/ https://danieldteolijrarchivalcollection.wordpress.com/...

Re: Sennett comedy with sound added?

Thanks Steve! Always appreciate some history. I hope to digitize it and put it online someday. But Warner Brothers had a Durbin film pulled within a few hours after I uploaded it, so will just have to see. In any case, will also put it on the Internet Archive. Things are usually safe there. I got an...

Sennett comedy with sound added?

I watched a 400 footer I think was called Kid Ryan. I don't know for sure if it was a Sennett production, but the name popped up on intertitles now and again. The film had later optical sound with comic narration added. Was this a common practice with silent movies? When were these sound added films...

Edge sprockets cut out @ parts.

I got an 400 foot, 16mm double perf nudie film, probably 1954 vintage. The reel is divided up into 5 parts. At each intertitle marking the parts, there is a 1 inch cutout of the sprockets on the left side of the film. The cuts are angled in at the edges and are all similar in size and design. Was th...

I'd offer to buy scans from you, which you would probably not sell and I'd put them up on the Archive. But with that monster hoard I could not even affor...

Wanted high quality 16mm amateur family movies.

16mm only - must be high quality amateur productions with smooth transitions, good focus and exposure. Nothing beyond late 1960's but prefer earlier. Interesting subject matter, no reels full of the baby or kids standing around. No faded red films unless very special subject matter. Write direct: w...

Do you project the sound through the stereo gear shown in the photo? If so, I never thought of that.

Re: When stag films were illegal how were they sold?

OK...I finally heard from the in-between agent for a 92 yo man that was selling off the his massive film collection. He said his non-porn films were being donated to UCLA's film archive and he was selling off the porn as UCLA must not have wanted them. As far as the porn, I was able to buy about 75 ...

When stag films were illegal how were they sold?

The collector a...

Hi Roger, Get a book called Dirty Movies: An Illustrated History of the Stag Film It has an index in the back with dates of many of the films. You can pick it up used on eBay pretty cheap. If you don't want to sell them, store them in archival vented film cans or in cardboard boxes or paper envelope...
