Re: Mary Pickford Movie

The problem with doing a movie about Pickford is that it's difficult to make a film about someone who lived such a very long life. Personally I think Mabel Normand would make a more interesting subject. A good film about Mary would begin with her life as a child actress and end with the death of Dou...

Re: Annual Airings

I seem to remember one of the networks would air "My Fair Lady" around Thanksgiving time every year starting in the mid-70s. To get a little off topic, I also remember that "West Side Story" encompassed two nights of special prime time viewing during its first go 'round on the small screen.

Actually, snitz has developed somewhat of a following among young people (well, at least ONE young person!) In any case, he has his own Facebook page:

You would think someone like TCM would take the time to do the research that a documentary of this type deserves. I'd expect shoddy research from others, but from this network it's a major disappointment.

What a lovely article! I went there thinking it was going to be a hit piece, but Walker speaks very lovingly about his mother.

I got mine today after just ordering a few days ago. It will be so nice to see this again, and to have the little booklet to read too (which did not come with the old VHS I had). Thanks!

OH OH OH I have to reply to this!!! I've mentioned my family in IA. I spent too many years in a town population 400. Ironically after some of this bitchfest I was thoroughly convinced Cinecon should be moved to Des Moines as the small town attitude and the 'its good enough' attitude would do them w...

Well, Pickfair IS awfully close to his old house on Summit Drive, but it doesn't seem to be for sale. Perhaps they went with the next best thing...

I have been lucky enough to attend a few Cinecons. If I haven't been back since 2003. it is only because school (I went back to college at 40, yay!) or work schedules, or lack of funds, have not allowed me to do so. It had nothing to do with lineups or the people at Cinecon. The few times I did atte...

Printing costs vs sales of silent/classic films on DVD

For those who produce and market silent and classic films for DVD, is it more of a labor of love or do some of them actually make money? Is there any way to determine the sales of these films vs. costs of making them available? Of course, I am a fan so it is worthwhile to me, but someone who thinks ...
