Re: The Future of Film and Preservation.
"You have to remember once film is struck it is struck, nothing else is needed really. AC does not cost the much to run, and sprinkler just sit there and get inspected by the fire marshal each year. " >>>Completely, utterly false. Temperature controlled storage vaults cost a FORTUNE to keep in servi...

Re: The Future of Film and Preservation.
Come on guys. Keeping film archived copies in a temperature controlled vault with sprinkler systems, ect is MUCH more expensive than keeping a SAN. Once the SAN is in place, the costs are minimal to the company, ANd the SAN can be used for many other kinds of Data storage, like backing up the networ...

Re: Painstaking reconstruction of IB TECH print of AFRICAN Q
True.....the "magic" of the technicolor is gone from the new Blu Ray.
I have a laserdisk made from the 1955 IB print , and it still has that technicolor glow.

Re: Make your own silent movies on 35mm film
Actually, 8mm film (I think) will be available as long as 35mm film is.....as far as I know, all they do is take 35mm film and cut it into 4 strips, then punch the sprocket holes.

Re: Fox Goes All Digital in Hong Kong & Macau
Wether you like it or not, Film is going away, in both Professional applications and amatuer applications. Its just the way it is, and you cant fight it. I have to say, I have seen some raw footage shot with the RED camera and it was incredible. It will never look just like film, but tastes change a...

Re: Universal Restorations coming this year
