EXCUUUUUSE ME. J'Adore The Ghost of Dragstrip Hollow , and the entire fifties dragstrip oeuvre. Dragstrip Girl . Daddy-O . The Party Crashers . Classics, classics, I tell you. I will grant you that The Ghost of Dragstrip Hollow is the best film I have ever seen, and ever expect to see, on the theme...

Re: What's The Last Silent Movie You Watched?
I recently watched Faust (1926) while keeping my father-in-law company. I really liked the striking visuals and tone of the film. Last night I finished up The Saphead (1920), which may have been one of Keaton's first headlining films. Unfortunately, it was pretty dull, and the stock market backdrop ...

Re: What's The Last Silent Movie You Watched?
I was sitting with my father-in-law last night, and we watched It Happened One Night (1934), which is another one of my favorites. Top to bottom, they had a lot of great actors that meshed together really well. The actor who played Shapeley was annoyingly effective.

I recently watched Private Lives (1931), which was my first Norma Shearer film, if I recall correctly. I liked the film well enough, and she sure was sure feisty in the role.

Mine arrived over the weekend, but I handed it straight over to my father-in-law, so I haven't had the pleasure of watching it yet. Hopefully soon!

Re: From Caligari to Hitler on TCM
I watched a little bit of this last night, and it definitely made me want to watch some of the films highlighted.
I DVR'd Nosferatu (a favorite) and Faust, which I know virtually nothing about.

I took my dad to see the Fathom showing of It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World (1963). That was the first time I had seen it, and we both really enjoyed it. Unfortunately I totally missed Buster Keaton, and didn't realize who Jack Benny was. Whoops!

Not sure if this has been posted here or not, but All-Day Entertainment's 3-DVD set American Slapstick Vol. 2 is priced to clear at $5. I just got one last week, and have already blazed my way through the first disc, which includes a number of early Harold Lloyd shorts, some of Hal Roach's lesser-k...

Re: NEW KICKSTARTER: DUCKS AND DRAKES (1921)
With three days togo, there has been a sudden and shap rise in the number of people contributing. This sort of action always confuses me.They won't take the money until Wednesday; they were always going to take the money Wednesday; they were never not going to take the money Wednesday. So,logically...

Re: What's The Last Silent Movie You Watched?
I finally had the chance to watch Barrymore's Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (1920). I really liked it, and I daresay that is my favorite film adaptation. Barrymore was suitably creepy and effective as Mr. Hyde. I need to see if there is a blu-ray of this, as I'd love to add it to my collection.

Hello all,
A couple of days ago I watched Five Million Miles to Earth (1967). I liked the idea of the film, but it fell pretty flat with me. The pacing didn't help matters, where they are mainly digging for the first 45 minutes. I thought the ship design was pretty cool, though.

Re: What is the last film you watched? (2016)
I danced with the stomach flu over the past couple of days, but I did manage to watch The Time Machine (1960) and Easy Rider (1969). I am a big fan of H.G. Wells, and The Time Machine is too hard for me to pass up whenever it comes on. I enjoyed Easy Rider until they dropped acid, then it kind of we...

Re: What's The Last Silent Movie You Watched?
Hello all,
I watched The Black Pirate (1926) over the weekend. My daughter watched the final little bit with me and she said she liked it.
She also mentioned liking the music from Phantom of the Opera, and wants to watch that with me. She's 10, so we'll see how long it keeps her attention.

Re: It's the 8th Annual "Watch That Movie Night," Fri Jan. 2
It's great to see/hear what everyone watched! I was off the grid for most of the weekend, but I finally managed to watch Gregory Peck in Captain Horatio Hornblower (1951). I've been wanting to read the book series for quite awhile, and I think this film talked me into doing so. I really enjoyed the ...

Re: What is the last film you watched? (2015)
I had quite the movie marathon over the long weekend: 28 Weeks Later (2007), Edge of Tomorrow (2014), Horrible Bosses 2 (2014), Twelve Monkeys (1995), Christmas in Connecticut (1945), It Happened Tomorrow (1944), and The Babadook (2014). The Babadook did the job well, and Horrible Bosses 2 fell pret...

I intentionally watched two very similar films over the long weekend: George Washington Slept Here (1942) and Mr. Blandings Builds His Dream House (1948). I enjoyed them both and they both had very solid casts, but I was pleasantly surprised to see Percy Kilbride appear in the first film. I should ...
