Re: Debbie Reynolds - The Auction Finale

It's a pity she wasn't able to keep the collection together. With all the hoopla over the auctions, wish someone would have written an in-depth piece about why she had such trouble building a place for it or why various institutes didn't step in to help or take the collection. Have heard many rumors...

Author Eve Golden to discuss her John Gilbert bio

"He was always an enigma...many people...have been likened to mercury but Jack Gilbert was mercury. You'd touch him and he'd vanish." - Leatrice Joy, actress, John Gilbert's ex-wife and the mother of Leatrice Gilbert Fountain "One of Gilbert's problems was that when he finished a picture...he didn't...

Re: Alice In Wonderland (1933) on TCM Friday Evening!

Does anyone know why some sites list the original running time as 90 minutes? Are they referring to a preview print that circulated?

Most running times put the film as 75-76 minutes but people seem to think it was cut down from the 90 minute version.

Any truth to that?

MissDupont,

Thanks for the info! I wonder if Hollywood Heritage will weigh in? They seem to be the only preservation group that kept Grauman's from being completely altered when Hollywood and Highland was built.

Changes coming to Grauman's

I didn't see a thread about this but I thought it might be of interest to many here. The new owners of the Chinese movie complex have sold the naming rights to Grauman's to a Chinese television manufacturer called TCL. The new name of Grauman's will be (at least for ten years) TCL's Chinese Theater ...

A week and a half later I am still thrilled that I was able to attend the first screening and in the Paramount, it was, as many here have said, a magnificen...

Bob,

I'll be at Luka's tomorrow evening with two friends who have tix for "Napoleon". We've got reservations for dinner so I'll keep an eye out for you as it gets closer to 8-8:30 (You're wearing a Detroit Tigers cap, do I have that right?).

Looking forward to it!
