But just like everything else this maverick moviemaker did, The Trial of Billy Jack was marginalized and trivialized, Obviously, the writer of the piece must not have seen " Trial of Billy Jack " upon its release. The film wasn't marginalized and trivialized it was just a really bad, bad film. I ha...

I had a wonderful time at the Festival enjoying seeing classic films (some new to me, Sunnyside Up and some old favorites as well.) My husband loved seeing Singin' in the Rain on the big screen for the first time and Stanley Donen's intro was great. The audience applauded after every musical number....

Bob,

Sorry I missed seeing you in person at the TCM Fest, I did get a chance to say "hey" to Mike who gave a wonderfully entertaining intro to "Murder, He Says".

I did see you on the big screen in the first hour "rough cut" of "Moguls and Movies", as well.

The Walking Box Ranch which was home to Rex and Clara is still standing. It is located on the road between Searchlight, NV and Nipton, CA. The Spanish-style house is quite nice with a large dining room. During World War II, they held B-B-Ques for Patton's troops training in the nearby desert. Rex be...

Kevin Brownlow whose wonderful Hollywood series I saw on KCET back in the late 1970s. The series captivated me but the people he interviewed stayed with me for years after. It was my first real introduction to silent films and its influence on me is the foundation of the work I do today. Add to that...

I just mentioned this to Chuck Tabesh. who is guest on SSO this week. I don't know if He has seen the Silent version of BEAU GESTE or not? I mean many people haven't. Great to know that you screened a print in 35 Millimeter just last year. Paramount was like a stone wall, but He noted that they are ...

MissPickford,

I went to the screening at the Academy last April. Kevin Brownlow was indeed there and introduced the film. The score was by Carl Davis, not Robert Israel.

The print was courtesy of Photoplay according to my wonderful Fairbanks program from that evening.

Not as far as I know. It was aired only once, in two parts, on TCM in the summer of 2004 as part of their tribute to DeMille.

Matt,

Are you sure? I think it had an encore airing in April 2005 as part of their Documentary Day.
