Does anyone know who coined the term, "intertitle?" The earliest I can find it in print is circa 1980-81. I'm sure it's an abbreviation of "interstitial title." If one has any interest in preserving the terminology commonly used by the industry during the silent era, then the terms "subtitles" or "titles" are the terms to be used.
