Re: Lost Film Cemetary
It's sort of a weird truism...immediately after a brand, spanking, hideously expensive restoration of a formerly lost film is released on blu ray, more footage will be discovered. It's like rain after you've washed your car. Very good point.............It has to do with it has been brought to the a...

Re: Lost Film Cemetary
" Unlike say Photography I'm under the impression "Films" of this nature are not found at your local garage sale..." Paul Gierucki found the only known print of A THIEF CATCHER, a Keystone comedy with a rare appearance by Chaplin as a Keystone Kop at a flea market sale in MIchigan. P.S. ... There i...

That's the beauty of watching Silent Movies............As if your Observation skills go up, they have to, or the story feels broken...At least for me:)

She picked the Hollywoodland sign because it had 13 letters.Thirteen Women gave her the idea where to go........... She jumped off the 1st letter Why not the 13th one? What to be...

Thank you for your reply radiotelefonia:)
You guys sure are filling me in on films on Native Americans. It then becomes another niche where one must progress into another area.
Not a problem:) Thanks again.

One can be all over the place when it comes to Lost Films so staying with what you know seems to be the best move:) By far Vincent's collection is the largest private collection in the world. http://louisebrooks.com/ He's the only one I buy my st...

Re: Lost Film Cemetary
Maybe this is where some of these Lost Films ended up? Where some ? This is what happened to thousands of films. Films were washed in a chemical bath in order to recover minute amounts of unexposed silver. This was common practice for disposing of release prints. While nitrate fires get the brunt o...

Thank you for your reply:) That was interesting what you wrote and another perspective to see it from. The next day after her death her Uncle received a letter where Peg was invited to the leading role in a play........ The story line being she ends her life by suicide. Lost Film Cemetary
According to Louise Brooks in a letter I read of her's, studios didn't have storage problems, they wanted to melt the films down for silver recovery. Think this is a really bad misconception which I had until I read her letter. Maybe it was a case of both? Hundreds of ounces of silver could be recov...

Then according to Louise Brooks in a letter I read of her's, studios didn't have storage problems, they wanted to melt the films down for silver recovery. Hundreds of ounces could be recovered in silver this way. Maybe this is where "The Glad Rag Doll" finally ended up? http://i68.tinypic.com/2zgvhp...

Re: What's The Last Silent Movie You Watched?
Well Thank You:) Do enjoy many others, like Louise Brooks. Actually I own a card signed by her. It's fun finding out the inside stories, like the one's most people wouldn't even know about. Brooks never had a problem speaking her own mind........To quote her from a letter I have of her's: She wasn't...

The Scarlet Letter with Lillian Gish.........Her book Lillian Gish: The Movies, Mr. Griffith and Me is a fascinating read........ Which to me is her long quest to be as Wise as possible............Make sure you buy her 1st edition which to my knowledge she signed every copy. http://i65.tinypic.com/o...
