Re: Do you watch Internet silent films on a big screen TV?

If something doesn't look good on the 48" TV, I'll watch it on the 27" monitor.
There both hooked up to the same computer.

Touch of Evil - 1958 The 1988 re-edit.

I've watched Touch of Evil more times than I can count. It's brilliant.

Re: What is the last film you watched? (2016)

I have a few days off. Me and my cat are binge watching Film Noir. I put entire Film Noir part of my collection on shuffle and watch whatever comes up. This will probably go on all weekend. Gun Crazy - 1950 Fallen Angel - 1945 Fury - 1936 Currently watching Rope - 1948 . Rope isn't a Noir per se but...

Re: What's The Last Silent Movie You Watched?

A Page of Madness - 1926 Directed by Teinosuke Kinugasa Trying to describe a proper plot in this film really can't be done. It's very avant-garde especially for a 1926 film. No intertitles. The viewer has to figure thing out for himself. It's a film driven by atmosphere, not by plotlines. As far as...

This may qualify. The Unchastened Woman - 1925 Starring Theda Bara Description from TCM When she goes to tell her husband Hubert that she is expecting a child, Caroline Knollys finds him in the arms of another woman. Caroline leaves him and, not telling him of her pregnancy, runs off to Europe where...

Re: What is the last film you watched? (2016)

I apologize for not being as handy with prose as some of the other members here. Detour - 1945 Starring Tom Neal and Ann Savage. Directed by Edgar G. Ulmer. Detour shouldn't be a good movie. Its shoestring budget shows in every scene. The narration is straight out of Film Noir 101. Ulmer's directing...

Mantrap - 1926

Clara Bow is great.
My copy of the film wasn't. It's from the Cloud River DVD set.
It was watchable, but barely.

The most recent newer movie I watched was Hail Caesar!

Meh

I expected much more from the Coen Brothers.

A Clever Dummy - 1917

I thought it was pretty good. Chuckled through the whole film.
