Is it possible to post a few more photos of frames from the same reels? May help to identify what you have.

Re: What's The Last Silent Movie You Watched? [2017]
I am in the process of trying to watch several films on home dvd of Constance Talmadge to see her later characterizations (ie Duchess of Buffalo, The Primitive Lover, Her Night of Romance, and Her Sister from Paris so far) that are far different than her roles in The Microscope Mystery and Intoleran...

Re: Seattle: EYES OF THE TOTEM (1926)
Rodney,
Looks like their website indicates that the line up in SF will be determined by 10/9th with early bird discounted passes on sale 8/21st. If this film makes the cut it would be great to hear about the reviews after 12/2 festival to see how folks liked it.

Re: What is the frame?
Welcome Twisted to nitrateville! Looks like your first picture indicates that the short portions of each film in the larger box were what broke off from larger reel to reels that were probably spliced to allow reprojection of the film, but those may not exist now and you have the "scraps" of what su...

Another good one would also be Slugger Rourke, the character he played in Dynamite Smith 1924. Although a lost film, many stills are still out there.

Thanks for your reply and it's important to know how other parts of the world locate lost or film material that hasn't been viewed since nearly a century ago.
Welcome back. I appreciate your experience and perspective.

Re: Lost James Williamson film fragment FOUND !
HI Steve, I agree it is luck. I am a regular on ebay and I am always surprised that non-film enthusiasts don't always know what they have in estate or antique sales. I saw a Belgium 35 mm nitrate film on ebay last week that ended without selling the short film that was in portuguese and when I asked...

Re: Lost James Williamson film fragment FOUND !
Can I ask you Robert where do you find lost films.? I know you mentioned Japan , but in Australia or New Zealand are there similar ways of locating lost films as in US via estate sales, antique dealers, ebay, private collectors, etc.?

Max Linder was 5' 2" tall and with shoes on maybe 5'3" In this short film footage, the male character appears taller than that.

Re: LOC Process to restore the film The Dove (1927)
I am trying to find out what footage exactly is on the 2 UCLA reels. I will ask again to see if their archives at Santa Clarita can view it on their end and see if this is footage from the 4 reels that LOC has or different since the UCLA reels are on 16 mm safety film recorded from a 16 mm home movi...

So, were lantern slides from silent films in the 20's used as a preview to the film using these lantern projection devices before the movie was shown in the theaters or were they like lobby cards just collector's items?

Re: The Microscope Mystery 1916 Print Available
Update: I heard back from Steven Hill at UCLA by phone today. Seems their reel 1 of Microscope Mystery is in poorer condition than what their catalog indicates. Shrinkage of film is much worse than initially thought and their staff says it has many broken sprockets and even scotch taped frames inste...

Re: LOC Process to restore the film The Dove (1927)
I spoke to Steve Hill at UCLA today regarding the two reels that UCLA has from the Dove 1927. He is looking into the exact footage they have, but may be a 16 mm copy of what may have been copied from another 16 mm intended for Home video years ago. May be a duplicate of footage that I viewed at LOC ...

Re: Romayne Comedies?
Hi Robert and Steve: I see the Kipling Comedy titles and will do a search under that name instead of Romayne Comedies as many of the states you mentioned were more than likely states that a new owner of the prints and state's rights to redistribute in late 1921 or in 1922. These were popular 2 reel ...

She also inherited $10 K from her mom in 1933 post-Netcher marriage which is $200 K in today's economy, so she was not penny less in the 30's especially by the time she met her 4th marriage in '38. Sounds like she was content and didn't miss Hollywood.

HI Steve, I was just at LOC DC in late June and if I would have known Daffy House 1921 was found and at LOC, I may have tried to view it. Good reason to go back someday soon. Thanks for the information. I also saw that on Lantern, but no idea what the 13 th comedy was called (or if even released) or if any of the 12 you listed survive today. It us unclear which of these Dot Farley was in even though these references point out that she was the lead in some of them. Perhap...

Romayne Comedies?
Does anyone know if any of the 13 or so Romayne Comedies survive today? Charles Avery directed these comedies in 1920 and 1921 and many of the newsapaper, com sources list Dot Farley as the lead comedienne in most of the comedy series although her credits don't list any of these 2 reel short comedies...

Re: Current Theaters built during the Silents with Organs
I don't know about a national list, but in my area, the Paramount Theater opened on March 1, 1928 for silent film purposes and has the original Wurlitzer Organ that still is used and the theater is run by the non-profit Seattle Theater Group (STG). In Tacoma, the Rialto Theater opened in 1918 , but ...

Re: The Lloyd Hamilton Kickstarter project
HI Bob,
I just got the LTL multi disc set in the mail today. So LTL is back in business after a hiatus. I believe the owner also belongs to a band and was focusing on that in New Hampshire area in the last 2 years or so.

Dana
