Re: Nitrate Laurel & Hardy print on eBay
I just put in my bids.
I ask no one bids against me. Seriously.
If I am a winner they will promptly go to an archive along with other nitrate I have here. No donors restrictions. I don't plan on keeping them.

If you are looking for projectors with lost nitrate fragments on the USA eBay good luck. That source had dried up about seven years ago. The best place to look will be the overseas eBay's.

Re: More Technicolor snippets found!
If overseas it could have been a Bing projector. When a movies commercial life had ended one of its fates was to be cut into 50 - 100 foot lengths and sold for toy projector use. Individual frames were also sold for eye viewers and slide attachments for toy projectors that had them. Like the Keyston...

I really like this DVD.
Maybe someone would take a stab at getting this one out to the public some day. 1920s DANTES INFERNO.

Anyone know if this will be from the print previously issued by Kino or the negative that was preserved in an archive years ago?
A great film. I hope to get this as soon as released.

Re: Worst of the Worst
I have a religious film from the mid 1920s about The Good Samatatin. The worst planned and executed silent film I've ever seen. Works fine as a silent short if you increase the speed to double. Boy, I'd have to agree. But for being light on close-ups, it sure compares favorably with similar Indie S...

Re: Place to look for lost films, ever found one?
I found four one reelers at the local flea market two summers ago for five bucks each. The oldest was from 1908. They are all at the LoC and MoMA. One was a lost Pearl White comedy from 1913 that was in a can for a film released in 1905! :D Older films can be had at the overseas eBays. The nitrate o...

The Widow Jones (May Irwin) and other 1890s play questions
I understand that a copy of the script of "The Widow Jones" starring May Irwin, who re-enacted her role for "The Kiss" (1896) film, may be still around and was brought back to the stage a few times, IIRC. Do other plays from the turn of the century also still exist on paper? Did authors and playwrig...
