Czech titles

Czech is a Serbo-Coat type known as West Slav language and not like Hungarian(Magyar) which is like no other European language but some of the best filmmakers from the pioneer days had a Magyar speaking background. The Czech language was known as Bohemian until about the 1800s and is similar to the ...

Whilst WW Young was listed as director of the 1915 Alice in Wonderland, he does not appear to be the well-known Waldemar Young who died in 1938. None of Waldemar's titles in the 1920s match those titles mentioned. Most of Waldemar Young's listed scripts in the 1930s are available to buy on DVD & I h...

Technicolor

I can agree with Richard's remarks about Metrocolor turning out good quality prints. I bought a legitimate 16mm print of Alan Freed's Rock, Rock, Rock. This had proper text Metrocolor on the leaders and was a perfect print. Black & white yes but it gave me a good idea of their work. I guess they had...

An American Romance(1944)

This film was one of the first MGM package collection shown on CH7 Melbourne when they got the c700 film package rights minus GWTW(at the time). They showed this, I think, in their Friday night Academy Theatre slot at the time in black & white as we had to wait until about 1973 for color. Some peopl...

It seems that IMDB, who has a lengthy article about Eva van Berne, does list this lady as having died in 1930 from excessive dieting. Penfold: You are right re longevity of British Cinematographers, but, sadly, this is not altogether true of many excellent British comedians & comic actors, some who have died on stage or in their dressing rooms and at least one suicide thrown in(Tony Hancock in Australia).

Of course it makes sense to look for a Region Free Blu Ray at this point in time.
