Re: Best Movie of 1914
The actual list doesn't say "most popular," just "popular." I take that to mean it might be more of a "new faces" thing that takes your awareness and liking for others, like Pickford or John Bunny, as known. Something like this Newsweek cover from 1981. Is it bad I don't even know who those actors ...

Thundering Hoofs (1922). The right of two sympathetic young people not to marry each other depends on the outcome of the race -- a comic spin on the genre. And yes, Fred, it's one of those where plucky young girl jumps on the horse at the last minute (aren't they all like that?) I think this one is...

I would say 90% of the 60 or so films in queue have never changed WAIT status for a single day in over 8 months. Any film I've gotten that has been smashed in the mail turns out to be their only copy. How can you have a rental business with ONE copy of a film? I read somewhere they have a preferent...

This title requires a photochemical restoration before a new transfer can be made. An expensive and time consuming process. Know nothing about that problem, but copies recorded from TCM can be obtained. The current transfer that TCM is using was done over 30 years ago. http://www.youtube.com/watch?...

You don't state why VHS might not be playable in "20 years", but it isn't due to deterioration of the magnetic media, it would be more likely due to the lack of any VHS playback equipment that's operational. There is no known end of life for magnetic media. The oldest magnetic tape extant, manufact...

This makes me wonder, how are we preserving our own movie libraries?
