Did a Zoom interview this morning with a "kid" from the Kennebec Journal in Augusta. An interesting process when the "kid"knows absolutely nothing about silent films and drew a total blank with Citizen Kane as well as Mank. Anyway, I was ready for my close-up ... but that would have gone over his head as well.

Yup, I keep thinking of the 1970s show on PBS.

Re: Who's Zooming Who?
OK Zoomer!
But yeah, you'd think that they'd have someone who has done a little homework interview for the article.
I'm just one man but I hope that my kid doesn't grow up totally culturally ignorant like a lot of people. I don't expect people to know about the filmography of everyone but c'mon, everyone should see Kane at least once.

I take it back. I was not ready for my close-up. I endured a 60-minute+ photo shoot this morning. I was hoping for a quick snap in the garage.

Re: Who's Zooming Who?
I was once working with a pretty famous film maker when the editor of a trade magazine came to interview him. They were about five minutes into their interview when the film maker mentioned one of his previous movies in reference to a question. The interviewer gave him a blank look, and he asked, "Have you seen that film?" She admitted she hadn't. So he listed off a bunch of his other films... Her answer was "no, no, no, no, no..." He got up and stretched and said, "You know, I'm making another movie right now and I'm really busy... much too busy to be teaching journalism 101 to someone who really should know better." He walked out of the room and the interviewer just sat there stunned. She slunk off and wrote the article without his interview.

Well, if it’s not embarrassing, don’t bother.

LOL.... The photographer showed up in striped overalls, so I guess I was a step ahead: I had on ratty sweat pants.

Re: Who's Zooming Who?
Reminds me of a story told after George Harrison passed...
Very late in his career, a young photog was doing a session with him. The callow youth kept over-directing, and with an exasperated, "This Old Guy has no idea what we're doing..." manner.
George eventually got fed up, and walked out with an over-the-shoulder remark to the effect of,
"Ya know, I was doing this stuff all day long when you were still in your pram..."

No idea if this link works for non-subscribers..... They overplayed the restoring part but I guess they think everyone who works with silent films restores them.
