I've seen clips of Two Tars, and You're Darn Tootin' on The Golden Age of Comedy. Eventually You're Darn Tootin' was shown at the local artsy theater. HUGE screen, super dark theater and no narration! It was great. Can't wait to see Two Tars! :D

Has anyone got any info about these "restorations"? TCM added new scores, but where did they get permission to run the from if Richard Feiner or Agee have the rights?

Robert Israel did a splendid job scoring the four silent Laurel & Hardy shorts that TCM ran last Sunday.
But two of the four scheduled for tonight already have music & effects scores so I was wondering if TCM would be running them with their original disc scores, or is Mr. Israel preparing new scores for those as well. Checking with the man himself, this was Robert Israel's response:

"I prepared eight new scores for the eight short films."

So it looks like the purists among us who'd have preferred the original disc scores (that's me!) will not be hearing them this time, but instead can expect the usual excellent work from Mr. Isreal .

His comment that he prepared only eight new scores also suggests that these eight shorts are all we will be seeing on TCM for now. Sure enough their schedule through the end of February includes no more silent L & H shorts, not even repeats of these eight they're running this month.
